It appears that I'll be teaching a course during Intersession. A whole semester's worth of work in...wait for it...nine days. Granted, this is the sort of thing one does when in search of $, but I feel a certain tremor of anxiety. If the course makes its enrollment, I may need to rename this blog "The Exhausted Professor," "The Enervated Professor," or, perhaps, "A Professor of Very Little Brain."
That's half the time of my most compressed course. It's all about short readings, right?

How many novels will the students be reading? I sometimes teach a five-week summer course for $ and find that almost impossible to pull off.

Nearly all poetry, nearly all the time, as it happens. Simplifies life enormously. (The students get the syllabus ahead of time, so they can do some of the reading before the, er, ordeal.)
