- M.D., Bolsover Castle: A Tale from Protestant History of the Sixteenth Century (Short & Co.; John Hatchard, 1846). Anti-Catholic historical novel about Arabella Stuart. More information on the titular (and still-standing) castle here.
- Jane Spencer, Literary Relations: Kinship and the Canon, 1660-1830 (OUP, 2005). Links between ideas of kinship and different concepts of literary tradition. I'm reviewing it for Choice.
Have you tried Google Books yet? One neat feature is that it allows you to search for words within individual books--sort of an electronic index. They've digitalized innumerable nineteenth century books. I'm often amazed by the variety of what they've done. Even some periodicals are included. Try limiting to "Full view books." Limiting by pub. year is also available in advanced search. You can also search by publisher.
