- As users have already noted, this is effectively a pay service: 99.99% of the time, the search will take you to information hidden behind a subscription wall.
- That being said, Google allows you to preview Newspaper Archive searches, which was more than I could do when searching that site on my own. At present, Google doesn't index Paper of Record.
- I couldn't help noticing that Google sometimes shunted users to pay sites when the same page was available for free elsewhere.
- Given what Google is indexing, it isn't surprising that searches emphasize small-town paper results (although some major papers show up as well). Local historians might find the service especially useful. (Alas, no results for "Emily Sarah Holt.")
