• Richard Stern, Almonds to Zhoof: Collected Stories (TriQuarterly, 2005).  Collection dating back to stories first published in 1949.
• Patricia Meyer Spacks, Novel Beginnings: Experiments in Eighteenth-Century English Fiction (Yale, 2006).  Literary history aimed at non-specialists.
• Michael R. Watts, The Dissenters:  Volume II: The Expansion of Evangelical Nonconformity (OUP, 1995).  Continues Watts' account into the mid-19th century.
