- Book Two may actually be reaching a state that bears at least a vague resemblance to being near completion.
- The above explains the recent shortage of posts at this blog (although I expect that in due course there will be an extensive review of the Mary Poovey book in the sidebar).
- It is not immediately clear why I had a thesis statement buried on the fifteenth page of one of my chapters; surely most readers expect to find thesis statements at the end of the author's introduction? Readers like, say, myself?
- Planting proceeds apace, although there will be a temporary break in the action due to rainstorms beyond my control. The rain will certainly reduce the time I have to spend watering my reseeded front lawn, at least.
- I did agree to read about forty rough drafts this weekend, didn't I? Ah, well, rain...
- The new Star Trek film premieres on the last day of classes. Clearly, this is a sign indicating how I should celebrate the end of the school year (and the coming of final exams...).
- I've found that students are never sympathetic when the instructor points out that she too must be awake for the 8 AM final exam. Can't think why.
Godspeed with the writing and end-of-semester-ing. At least you *found* the thesis statement and now can move it where you wish.

So you have to administer an exam at 8am, too? All the undergrad exams for my department are at 8am. They only have to do it for four semesters. I have to do it (as a T.A.) for eight semesters.
The students do perk up a bit when we tell them that we'll bring them chocolate-covered espresso beans to ease the pain of being awake at such an early hour.
