- Julia McNair Wright, Priest and Nun (Western Tract Society, n.d.). A nativist anti-Catholic novel, first published in 1869. Wright's fiction had a small transatlantic following.
- Frances M. Noble, Gertrude Mannering: A Tale of Sacrifice (Thomas B. Noonan & Co., 1883). A pure young Catholic woman manages to convert her infidel lover.
- Edmund White, Fanny: A Fiction (Ecco, 2003). Frances (a.k.a. "Fanny") Trollope meditates on her experiences in America while writing a biography of her friend Frances (a.k.a. "Fanny") Wright.
- Thomas Hardy, The Fiddler of the Reels and Other Stories 1888-1900 (Penguin, 2003). A new collection of Hardy's short stories.
