Bit of a garble there in the last para. Did you mean to excerpt that "brutal assessment"? Searching the Google scan for "Heathcliff", I find what sounds to a modern ear like high praise.

Re: Agnes Grey. Jennifer Stolpa tries to rehabilitate Grey's reputation in an article she published in the same issue of Victorian Lit. & Cult. (2003, v.31 no. 1) that you had an article. For my part, I liked Agnes Grey, which I read only after reading Stolpa's article.
