I had a student complain to me when I said there'd be problems if they chose different texts (for Shakespeare, Utopia, and now Faustus, especially). I hate to think how much time is wasted in classes helping students find the right passage because they're using a "thrift" edition.

The student thought I was being mean to those who'd felt budget pressure to choose cheaper texts.

Yeah, the "everyone is using a different edition" problem can be a nightmare during discussions.

Have you considered the old Grateful Dead concert recording gallery idea? Put all the computer users together just as the Dead used to put all the folks with microphones and reel to reel recorders together. The tech types didn't bother the fans, and a lot of the fans appreciated the recordings. (There, you've been compared to The Grateful Dead. Put that on your CV.)
